MONDAY, NOVEMBER 17
Plenary Sessions #1 thru #4:
“How Small Businesses Impact the Acquisition Process”
The Office of Procurement provides functional management, leadership, and policy direction for procurement and financial assistance activities (excluding Space Act Agreements) for the entire Agency. Members of this panel will discuss how they work together with the NASA Small Business Program to ensure that the Agency executes its mission successfully by managing the acquisition process effectively and efficiently.
“Small Businesses Building a High-Tech Industrial Base for the Future”
A panel of representatives from NASA’s four Mission Directorates--Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate (ARMD); Exploration Systems Mission Directorate (ESMD); Science Mission Directorate (SMD); Space Operations Mission Directorate (SOMD)--along with a representative from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory will discuss NASA small businesses building a high-tech industrial base for the future.
“Changes in NASA’s IT Enterprise bring Opportunities to Small Businesses”
The Office of the NASA Chief Information Officer (CIO) provides leadership, policy direction, and oversight for the delivery and management of NASA information technology. This panel will discuss the role Headquarters and center-level CIO’s play in executing the Small Business Program at NASA.
“NASA’s Subcontracting Opportunities”
A panel of Small Business Liaison Officers (SBLO) from some of NASA's prime contractors will present a discussion on how to market their companies for subcontracting opportunities. In FY 07, NASA large prime contractors awarded $2.9 billion dollars to small businesses. A Q&A period will follow.

Plenary Sessions #5 and #6:
“NASA Mentor-Protégé Program: Making a Difference”
A NASA Mentor and Protégé will discuss their working together to implement a successful Mentor-Protégé Agreement. It is not as easy as it sounds. Mr. Ronald Belz, Jacobs Technology, Inc. (Mentor) and Ms. Elizabeth Morard, President and CEO, Qualis Corporation (Protégé) will each review their roles in making a successful Mentor-Protégé Agreement work.
“The NASA Small Business Industry Awards Winner’s Circle: Success Stories”
Center-level winners of the 2008 NASA Small Business Industry Awards will share with symposium attendees a glimpse into what their companies do and the contribution they have made in assisting NASA to achieve its mission.
“Business-to-Business Networking”
A breakout room will be set-aside for attendees use throughout the day for informal business-to-business networking and/or informal meetings.
